Where Ancient Heritage Meets The Mediterranean

Antalya is more than a coastal escape — it is where ancient civilizations, mountain landscapes and Mediterranean life come together.

Set between the Taurus Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea, Antalya brings together historic cities, ancient theatres, turquoise coastline and a relaxed southern rhythm. From the winding streets of Kaleici to the monumental heritage of Aspendos, every journey reveals another layer of the region's remarkable past.

With Tolga Travel Atelier, your time in Antalya is shaped around the way you want to travel. Explore ancient Lycian sites, follow scenic coastal routes, discover hidden corners of the old town or simply allow time to slow down beside the Mediterranean — all with private arrangements and thoughtful local planning.

Private Antalya Tours: the Turquoise Coast, Explored Privately

Antalya is where the Taurus Mountains meet the Mediterranean, and where three thousand years of Lycian, Greek and Roman history sit a short drive from some of the clearest water in Europe. It is a city with a walled Ottoman old town, a working harbour, a Roman theatre still used for opera, and a coastline that runs west through Kaş and Kalkan to the mountains of Lycia.

Tolga Travel Atelier is led by Tolga, who has designed private Antalya tours since 1998: a licensed guide, a private vehicle or boat, and an itinerary that balances archaeology, coast and mountain in whatever proportion suits you. Nothing is fixed; nothing is shared with a group.

What is there to do in Antalya?

More than most visitors expect. The historic centre, Kaleiçi, is a walled Ottoman quarter of timber houses, courtyard hotels and narrow lanes leading to a Roman harbour. Hadrian's Gate, built for the emperor's visit in 130 AD, still marks the old city's edge. Within an hour are three of the finest classical sites in Turkey, Perge, Aspendos and Termessos, and within two are the Lycian cities of Phaselis and Olympos, the Düden and Kurşunlu waterfalls, the Köprülü Canyon, and a coast of coves reachable only by boat. A well-designed Antalya tour moves between these worlds rather than choosing one.

Kaleiçi: Antalya's old town

Every one of our Antalya tours begins in Kaleiçi, which rewards a slow walk with someone who knows it: the Yivli Minare and the Ottoman clock tower, the restored houses and the ones still waiting, the courtyard cafés, the view from Hıdırlık Tower over the harbour to the mountains. We time the visit for the early evening, when the day-trippers have gone and the harbour restaurants fill with residents. The old town is also where we recommend staying, since several boutique properties occupy restored mansions, and it makes an ideal base for everything below.

Perge, Aspendos and Termessos: the ancient cities

Perge is a complete Roman city, with stadium, baths, theatre and a colonnaded street with its water channel, twenty minutes from the centre and usually almost empty. Aspendos has the best-preserved Roman theatre in the world, still staging performances each summer. Termessos is different: a Pisidian mountain city at a thousand metres, never conquered by Alexander, reached by a forest path and rewarded with a theatre carved into the cliff edge. On a private Antalya tour the three fit comfortably into one long day or two unhurried ones; our Classical Anatolia with Antalya tour continues from here to Pamukkale and Ephesus.

The Lycian coast and the Taurus Mountains

West of the city the coast becomes wild. Phaselis is a Lycian harbour town in a pine forest with three bays for swimming; Olympos hides its ruins in a river valley beside the beach; Kaş and Kalkan are the coast's most refined small towns, with the sunken city of Kekova offshore. Inland, the Taurus offer the Köprülü Canyon, the plateaus above Kaş and the ancient Lycian Way footpath. Our Lycian Way & Taurus Mountains tour is built for travellers who want walking, sea and history in one journey, and Antalya Private Escape keeps the pace slower and the base in one place.

By sea: private boats and yachts

Much of this coast is best seen from the water. We arrange private boats from the old harbour or from Kemer and Kaş: a day of swimming in coves below Phaselis, a sunset along the cliffs, or a multi-day gulet cruise along the Lycian shore. For guests who prefer their own vessel, our VIP Mobility service covers yacht charter, helicopter transfers and private jet arrangements to Antalya airport.

What to eat in Antalya

The region's kitchen is Mediterranean and Anatolian at once: piyaz made with the local white beans and tahini, hibeş, şiş köfte, fresh sea bream and grouper at the harbour, and the Antalya orange in everything from juice to dessert. We book the fish restaurants in Kaleiçi and along the coast that are worth the drive, and the village lokantas in the mountains that are not in any guide.

How many days do you need in Antalya?

For Antalya tours that cover Kaleiçi and the three ancient cities, two full days is the minimum. Four allow a day on the water and a day along the Lycian coast. A week, based partly in the city and partly in Kaş or Kalkan, gives the region its due. Antalya also combines naturally with the rest of Turkey: Pamukkale is three hours by road, Cappadocia and Istanbul a short flight, and our longer itineraries link them into one private journey.

When is the best time to visit Antalya?

For Antalya tours, April to June and September to November are ideal: warm sea, clear skies, comfortable temperatures at the sites. July and August are hot and the coast is busy, though early starts and boat days work well. From November to March Antalya is Turkey's mildest large city: the ancient sites are empty, the old town is quiet, and the mountains behind are snow-capped. A year-round destination, with the season shaping the itinerary rather than deciding it.

The Tolga Travel Atelier difference

Tolga has personally guided private journeys through Turkey since 1998 with the same principles: one party at a time, a guide who knows the ground personally, a driver, vehicle or boat dedicated to you, and an itinerary that changes when you want it to. Private Antalya tours reward exactly this: the theatre at Aspendos at opening time, a cove with no other boat in it, a harbour dinner without the crowd. Those things only happen when the day is yours.

Tell us how you like to travel, and we will design the rest.
